Blog Challenge: Day 2

Day 2. Post a meaningful quote accompanied by an explanation.

alrighty lets see here

"Sometimes the most ordinary things can be made extraordinary, simply by doing them with the right people."
The Lucky One -Nicholas Sparks-

Most of my favorite quotes come from books. A handful of them from Nicholas Sparks. His writing about love and life and the intertwining of the two make him wonderful to read. I feel very much the same as he does, where there cannot be life without love. Or, a life without love is not really living. And this is love of any sort, not just of a romantic quality.

I adore this quote because it really does sum up an amazing feeling. It's so hard to put into words how this one sentence makes me feel, but it says it all.

I've never liked talking about what's wrong with our society too much. I'm usually quite passive when it comes to issues of that nature. I have my opinions, I just don't care to always share them. However, when hearing it from the perspective of teenage boys in the San Diego Juvenile Hall, it truly was an extraordinary experience. Something I never thought I could fall in love with, I did.

Dishes. Ew. But there's a picture of my mom and I doing dishes when I was younger. The moment is captured so perfectly, its no wonder its one of my mom's favorites. This picture holds all the wonderful things about my relationship with my mom. Things that are not always said, but always present. Even in harder times for my mom and I, these things we share have never left us, they've only been temporarily overshadowed by the strong emotions of an adolescent and those conflicting ones of a mother not at all wanting to accept the stubbornness of her daughter growing up. But when I see that picture, it reminds me of all the little moments I am so lucky to share with my mom.

My daddy and I solve the Sunday puzzles in USA Today together. Simple, 5 minutes or less of our entire week. But knowing how much my dad just absolutely adores doing that with me makes it so special. And as ordinary and odd as it sounds, it really is one of the little things I love sharing with my dad.

I could spend all day, every day with certain people. Not because the things we do together are magnificent adventures or productive uses of our time, but because they are amazing people. And amazing people really do make just sitting around and doing nothing together, something to remember forever.

Little moments with the ones you love are so important. Its really a shame that we don't always "get around to it" or find the time to spend doing absolutely nothing with the people we love. Sometimes it seems that the world just moves too fast for love. However, that's probably only because we let it. We don't really set aside "time to do absolutely nothing" even though we try to make time for leisure. Whatever that vague term means. But somehow in the craziness of the world spinning faster and faster, we do get those special moments. We just need to hold onto these moments while we can, so we can remember to also hold onto those who raise our everyday lives from the ordinary to extraordinary.

Blog Challenge: Day 1

So since I only seem to be a writer when I'm emotionally stimulated to one extreme or another, I figured I'd do the blog challenge. There's a list of topics in number order and I'll try to provide and answer to each topic every day to get myself writing a little bit more. So lets see how this goes...

Day 1: List some pet peeves and some things that just plain annoy the crap out of you. Feel free to elaborate.

When people don't text back.
When people don't text back, but get on Facebook....
Oh, come.on. we know you're there...

When people say one thing and do another.

People who take their overweight children into fast food places.
You're the only one who can teach them good eating habits! Stop setting kids who just want to live a normal life up for failure from the get go.. Irresponsible.

When I can see a large portion of some guys boxers or some girls thong.
Not okay. just.. ew.

People who know it's time to leave, but won't.
People who don't know when to shut up.

Girls who talk slutty, dress slutty, and act slutty, and then claim to have no idea why everyone thinks they're a slut..
If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck..it's an f'ing duck.

Crappy washing machines and/or dryers.
I already don't want to be there..

When people chew obnoxiously.
No, I do not want to see or hear what you're eating.

People who ask teachers stupid questions like, "Can we get extra credit for showing up today?"
or "Can you just give us the answers to the test?"
No. Shut up. I hope your parents are ashamed they're spending money on your education.

Guys who act like they can get any girl.
please. lol that's half the reason you can't.

When parents are never satisfied with their children just trying their best.
Listening to parents criticize kids who are trying their best..

The silent treatment.
Just say what's on your mind.

People who pretend they're everyone's best friend.
However, that also really makes me just laugh that they think people are that stupid.

When people don't call back.

When people don't consider how they are treating you or admit that they would hate it if you did the same to them.

When the volume is on an odd number, unless it's ending in a 5.
Yeah, I know it's ridiculous.. still doesn't change that itching feeling I get to adjust it.

I probably seem really petty lol but the you can't help the things that annoy you so ohwell. And I couldn't honestly think of every little thing that gets to me, but these were what came to mind today. Interesting. lol

whatever it is

I wish every week could be like this last one.
I could spend every single day just like the past four.

And everything looks brighter now.
We've already won half the battle, and the next half looks a milliiioonandone times better.

:)
